Stainless steel was first developed over 95 years ago in Sheffield. Today Sheffield is renowned for its steel and stainless steel manufacturing heritage. The Chrysler building in New York is clad in stainless steel. This versatile steel alloy, for all you metallurgists and chemists out there, has a minimum content of 11% Chromium. This composition enables the steel alloy to have anti corrosive attributes. As with most things in life, the exacting composition of the steel alloy is very varied. In fact there are over 150 grades of stainless steel available on the market today.
