Rolly Cow! One of the many uses for puncture proof wheels...

You’ve designed and built a 270kg mannequin of a cow, but how do you move it? You need a trolley capable of withstanding a lot of weight. That is the story of how Resquip Limited and Ross Handling Limited came to work with each other.

You’ve designed and built a 270kg mannequin of a cow, but how do you move it? You need a trolley capable of withstanding a lot of weight. That is the story of how Resquip Limited and Ross Handling Limited came to work with each other.

Based in Welshpool, Resquip designs and builds life-size animal mannequins which are used by fire and rescue, equine centres and veterinary colleges to facilitate training on how to approach and safely handle large animals in the event of an accident. The mannequins are shipped to customers worldwide and are supplied on a trolley for easy mobility.

Resquips’ director Tony Ward explained his reasons for approaching Ross Handling, “We send our products all over the world and the last thing we need is to receive calls from the USA or Australia saying that the tyres on the trolley are failing, so when this started to happen we found Ross Handling.”

Operating in Leicestershire for over forty years, they do not come much more experienced than Ross Handling when it comes to manual handling equipment. Ross Handling worked with Resquip to identify the right product for its needs, as Ross Handling director, Ross Fitzpatrick, explained: “The main challenge was the weight of the mannequin that the trolley wheels need to withstand. That’s why we suggested our puncture proof wheels, which can roll over a nail undamaged. They are literally as hard as nails!”

It is a solution which Ward is impressed with. “We have been working with Ross Handling for about six months now and must have purchased about a hundred of its puncture proof wheels so far. Put simply, the tyres we get from Ross, they work. They are up to the job and the availability we get from Ross Handling is very good too.”

“One of the great things about our products is that they are used everywhere – from schools, to offices, to film sets,” added Fitzpatrick. “A mannequin cow is certainly one of the more unusual uses of our products but its demands are the same as all or customers – a high quality product delivered on time and at the right price. We are delighted we are able to provide Resquip with the right solution.”
