Home Improvement, Do It yourself and make over programmes have made a recent television resurgence. But did they ever really leave our television screens? The British culture is obsessed with DIY ever since the runaway success of Changing Rooms. This makeover programme started in 1996 and we can still feel its effect on our television screens today. There is something addictive about seeing into an unfamiliar family’s home, which is in need of some redecoration, and following the makeover process through to the final unveiling. We can’t wait to see their faces, will they like the new designs or not? What, I hear you ask, has this to do with castors wheels and adjustable feet. Well we recently were proud to supply the production company making a makeover segment with Lawrence Llewellyn Bowen for ITV’s This Morning programme.
Lawrence and his team were sent to Brighton to help makeover a busy family’s dining room and what the owner of the house didn’t realise was the whole house was going to get a sprucing up! The production team called in the experts and we were there to help. They required a variety of furniture castors to attach to a sofa, and furniture feet for sideboards. Lawrence in his true style, knocked down walls and redesigned the living space to suit a busy family with three boys! This meant the furniture castors were attached to the new sofas, to give a modern industrial urban look, but also to enable the sofa to be moved when required. We supplied polyurethane castors for the job. These castors not only matched the red colour of the sofa, but also looked the part. The production company were recommended by us to have braked castors, so the sofa remained in position, when required and could be relocated and locked into position by the busy family.
Furniture castors and furniture feet are popular choices for both DIY’s and manufacturers. Any piece of furniture can be altered to suit your needs by adding adjustable feet and furniture glides to them. They also have the added benefit of being height adjustable, to counteract for uneven floor surfaces. Furniture feet are also popular rigid feet for office desks, office screens and equipment, for kitchen cupboards and for sideboards and shelving units. Furniture castors are ideal for sofa replacement castors, for arm chairs and a range of furniture and equipment.
There are such a wide variety of furniture castors available, ranging from the industrial look, used by Lawrence and his team, to the more traditional metal ball Shepherd castors, which have been used on sofas and arm chairs for many years. Luckily the family in Brighton certainly were surprised and loved their new family home, and the success of makeover shows continues to captivate the British audiences!
