Thomas Chippendale designed and made furniture in the mid Georgian era and is synonymous with the Georgian, English Rococo, and Neoclassical styles. His furniture is highly collectible and pieces can go for several millions of pounds. In his day in 1754 he published his book titled ‘The Gentleman and Cabinet-Maker’s Director’. This was a pattern book that was to secure his position as one of the most eminent cabinet-makers of the 18th century. With Chippendale Societies regularly meeting, and the Chippendale’s International School of furniture, his classical designs are still being talked about and replicated today.
