Time for bed! Ross Handling supply wheels for Knaresborough Bed Race 2015

Celebrating their 50th anniversary, Harrogate’s Knaresborough Bed Race expects over 30,000 spectators to descend on the town to watch this year’s 2.1 mile race and popular culture themed fancy dress parade.
Smith first ran the Bed Race in 2014 after he was approached by a team requiring a substitute. The Harrogate Racers were regulars at the event, competing for six consecutive years, but this was the first time that they had placed. He explains, “We came 3rd out of 88 competing beds and even won the ‘Fastest Non-Running Team’. I wouldn’t say I am overly competitive but I enjoyed winning!”
Nathan has decided to set up his own mixed team this year, the Flying Pullman, named after the Harrogate based Pullman Instruments. Competing against professional running teams and repeat contenders he soon realised the need for high quality wheels that could withstand Knaresborough’s hilly terrain and survive the entirety of the race. Following a recommendation from a local distributer, Nathan was delighted to see that Ross Handling stocked the exact 200mmx50mm pneumatic wheels required for his bed.
“The wheels arrived in the morning and we fixed them to the bed straight away; two fixed at the back and two swivel at the front. That same evening we took the bed for a test drive and the whole thing runs perfectly. With these wheels I’m sure we’ll be able to achieve ‘Fastest Mixed Team’ this year!”
