We can't get enough of The Volvo Ocean Race here at Ross Castors HQ. The world's premier offshore race began in 1973 and is one of the biggest sailing events in the world.

The ultimate ocean marathon includes crossing the worlds toughest oceans and covering 46,000 miles over eight months. The Volvo Ocean Race is also often described as the longest and toughest professional sporting event in the world.

the 2017/18 race srarted in Alicante October of last year fast forward 7 months and they've finally reached the UK after arriving in Cardiff on 23rd May.

With just three contests left in the race todays leg in Cardiff can only mean that the pressure really is on! We have to admit we do have a slight biast view for the Dongfeng race team from China due to them ordering castor wheels from us for some framework.

The frame was designed to rest the hub of the boat allowing them to paint and add sponsor stickers. The caster wheels used for the framework were a special fabricated twin wheel castor with 8" diameter wheel. These extra heavy duty castors were perfect due to each castor taking a weight of 3.2 tonnes.
