Introducing The Wheeleez Beach Wheels

With summer just around the corner and sand being one of the most challenging terrains the thought of a day at the beach can be rather daunting for those of you who require a wheelchair. With this in mind here at Ross Handling we thought it was the perfect time to announce the official launch of our beach ‘balloon’ wheels. Designed by WheelEEZ® a company whose goal is to make a vacation to the beach the happiest and convenient trip you will ever have.

Recently our Wheeleez beach wheels were purchased by Laura Jolliffe mother of Ava who has a rare condition Brown Vialetto Van Laere Syndrome (BVVL). Ava made the headlines in 2015 due to her being denied benefits as her disability was deemed not severe enough, fortunately, after a long battle Laura won her appeal for Ava and you can follow Ava's updates over on her blog Ava's Appeal or Facebook page.

Just like every child Ava just wants to be able to enjoy a day at the beach with her family and be able to walk her dog along the sand. Sadly due to Avas need for a wheelchair this day trip isn't so simple. 

To make this the beach accessible to Ava this summer Mum Laura has been researching the best way to get around the problems she is faced with. After a lot of research, she found the readymade beach wheelchairs were extortionately expensive and unfortunately rental beach wheelchairs aren't available locally. With this in mind, Laura took it upon herself to create Ava her own beach accessible wheelchair using our WheelEEZ® balloon wheels and a pink wheelchair frame.
