Introducing our first interviewee for our 'meet the team' blog is Operations and Procurement Director Luke Cook. Luke has been with Ross Handling for 19 years and is quite the story teller.
When Luke isn't working hard selling castor wheels you can find him managaing his local football club (County Hall) or attending murder mystery dinners as you can see below he doesn't go half hearted!
Hi Luke! You’ve been with Ross Handling for (19) years how has your role progressed in these years?
I have pretty much worked in every department at Ross Handling over the 19 years!! Initially I started as the junior member of the warehouse team where I had a variety of duties ranging from goods in, to picking, packing and serving customers on the trade counter. 5/6 years later I moved into the office (again as a junior)! learning my trade and supporting the small sales and accounts team. A few years later my role then changed significantly as I moved into a role where I managed all the purchasing as well as the sales team this continued until my current role.
Tell us a bit about your role As operations and procurement director?
I am in charge of maintaining stock levels and overseeing warehouse operations, another key role is to source exciting and innovative products globally and bring them to the UK market.
What does a typical day at Ross Handling look like for you?
It’s always varied but normally consist of liaising with suppliers, reporting, ordering and analysis with a little bit of sales thrown in there too!
What’s your favourite thing about the job?
I love the variety of my job day to day!
Do you have a favourite Ross Handling product?
Not favourite product but ranges maybe…our Derby Ruote industrial range, Caster Connection ergonomic Apex range and the our new range of low pressure beach wheels!
Finally, what do you think has been your career highlight so far?
Being part of a company and team that have grown and evolved considerably over the last 19 years.
